Alternative Child Care and Deinstitutionalisation: A case study of Indonesia

This report describes some key elements of child care reform in Indonesia, including strengthening of the regulatory frameworks and accreditation of social welfare organizations, integrated services for vulnerable children, community-based child protection mechanisms, and the use of case management to implement deinstitutionalisation, alternative care and family-based care. A key challenge highlighted is the lack of funding and human resources to strengthen the social service workforce to best provide these services.
