Using the para professional principles & competencies (SSWWeek Day 2)

How are you using the para professional guidelines or competency framework developed by the Alliance's Interest Group in your work? If you have had experience using the first edition document in any way, please let us know, as well as any ways the framework can be strengthened.

The para parofessional guidelines or competency framework developed by the Alliance's Interest Group has been found very useful while conducting training for them. India has a large number of para professionals at community level working as child care workers and health workers. As I work with School of Social Work and mostly engaged in training, I found the guiding principles and the framework for developing and strengthening para professionals very relevant. Para professionals in India play important role in providing services to children, families and marginalised communities in remote areas, there is need to recognise and appropriately acknowledge their service.

Thank you for this report! We are pleased to know these principles and competencues are useful in your training. And we're so glad to know that this is being used in India. Plus the idea of trading community level workers in both health and social service aspects of support seems to be rising in many quarters. We are hoping that the interest group can begin a discussion about this soon. We invite anyone to join our interest group. This can be done by adding the interest group to your membership profile when logged in, or for those wishing to become a member, click on "get involved" to join.

Happy to hear again that the Principles and Competencies are being applied and used in varous places.  And I appreciate the involvement of SWAZ and Joachim's input for the Interest Group.
